Jakarta, August 10, 2023 – Coinciding with the Indonesian Nature Conservation Day, Sejauh Mata Memandang (SMM) launches its latest collection “Rimba”. This collection draws inspiration from the Leuser Ecosystem Area in East Aceh, the last place on Earth for four critically endangered species to coexist in the wild: Sumatran elephants, Sumatran rhinos, Sumatran tigers, and Sumatran orangutans.
In a world where the fashion industry contributes 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions (McKinsey & Co.), we strive to be more responsible. The 'Rimba' collection reflects our commitment, to support nature preservation, particularly the invaluable forests and the diverse creatures that call them home
Alongside Yayasan HAkA and Forum Konservasi Leuser, Sejauh has initiated an agroforestry program. To date, we have regrown 20-hectare forest area, which is about 8,000 trees. This milestone is a result of a collaboration with our #SahabatSejauh, who contribute to this agroforestry initiative with every clothing purchase they make.
To create the 'Rimba' collection, we've also worked with local textile printing entrepreneurs in Bali to ensure responsible production. The collection features OEKO-TEX®️ STANDARD 100 certified dyes, safe for sensitive skin, along with water-saving production techniques that minimize environmental impact. Additionally, we remain committed to circularity by using TENCEL™️ fiber fabric, a material that embodies both comfort and nature positivity.
