Love, Learn, and Comfort: Mayo and Shafira’s Love Journey

Their story began with a swipe.
Mayo and Shafira matched on Bumble on New Year's Eve 2024. Two weeks of conversations later, they met for the first time at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, where Mayo was competing in a softball tournament.
Long before they ever officially met, Shafira had already noticed Mayo during one of his softball training sessions while she was out exercising at GBK herself, quietly recognizing a familiar face before he even knew her name.

Their first meeting did not quite feel like a first date. After Mayo’s softball match, Shafira ended up joining him and his friends for a meal. Their actual first date came later. Watching a move, followed by dinner and eventually, back to softball again.
Still, for Shafira, something about being with Mayo felt unexpectedly easy. As Shafira shared, Mayo is “very extroverted”, and by the time they met in person, he had already shared so much about himself that it felt less like meeting someone new and more like continuing a conversation that had already begun.

After a year and a half together, Mayo and Shafira chose to get married. For them, marriage was never the finish line of knowing each other. Even after marriage, they continue to discover new things about one another. Now, as Shafira prepares to welcome their first child, they believe there will be even more to learn and grow into together.
Neither Shafira nor Mayo would claim to know everything about living more mindfully. But for them, care begins with small and realistic choices such as paying attention to what they choose, what they buy, what they use, and what can still be reused. “Buy what you need, not everything you want, there is always something that can be reused," Shafira said.

They also mentioned the Rahajeng family as one of the figures who inspired them in thinking more intentionally about fashion and everyday habits. For Mayo and Shafira, it starts small: selecting clothes with greater care, and carrying a tumbler wherever they go.
For Shafira, Sejauh Mata Memandang had been familiar long before their pre-wedding plans. She had long admired the designs through Instagram, drawn to pieces that felt timeless and versatile enough to be worn across different occasions.

When it came time to choose what to wear for their pre-wedding, they chose pieces from Timun Mas and Tumbuh collections: a Kebaya Pendek “Wiji” and a wrap skirt “Tumbuh Jeda” for Shafira, and a long sleeve shirt “Wiji” paired with “Tumbuh Pagi Sore” sarong for Mayo. Beyond the colors, what stayed with them most was the comfort of the fabric.
In many ways, the life Mayo and Shafira are building together seems to follow the same rhythm they have had from the beginning: steady, familiar, and still unfolding. There is always something new to learn, but for them, perhaps what matters most is continuing to choose each other, in ways both ordinary and meaningful.
