Sejauh Mata Memandang collaborates with designer Adrian Gan, presenting a special collaborative collection titled "Antaratantrya" at the final show of Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week 2024 held at The Warehouse Plaza Indonesia on March 8, 2024.
Merging "Anantara" (limitless) and "Svantantrya" (freedom) from Sanskrit, the collection's name, "Antaratantrya," reflects its ethos. Adrian Gan drew from Sejauh Mata Memandang's commitment to environmental sustainability, aiming to interpret these values in the fashion realm broadly.
Incorporating diverse fabrics from Sejauh Mata Memandang, crafted through responsible and circular processes, Adrian Gan aspired for the collection to offer wearers a chance to express their style preferences, as he explained, "I hope this collection allows individuals to create their own style in line with their personal tastes."
Utilizing materials like slub cotton, jacquard-woven cotton, textile byproducts of Sejauh Mata Memandang's signature patterns, and various handwoven denims from the "Tarum" collection, Adrian Gan creatively combined these with non-natural fiber-based fabrics for a contemporary aesthetic.
Comprising 27 looks, including shirts, crop tops, jackets, dresses, skirts, and pants, "Antaratantrya" reflects Adrian Gan's contemporary and edgy style. The designs feature folds and wrinkles, symbolizing air's freedom, while curved shapes represent the Earth's roundness.
Models wore accessories from MAHIJA and sneakers from Pijakbumi, aligning with the visions and missions shared by Sejauh Mata Memandang and Adrian Gan regarding responsible fashion and the circular economy.
Chitra Subyakto, Founder and Creative Director of Sejauh Mata Memandang, expressed her joy at collaborating with Adrian Gan. "This is the first time Sejauh Mata Memandang has collaborated with a designer. A collaboration that Adrian and I have planned for a long time and finally realized on the stage of Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week 2024. Collaborating with Adrian gives me a new perspective on the fabrics that Sejauh creates, which we usually design inspired by traditional Indonesian clothing. This time, it is reimagined by Adrian in such a different, free, and limitless way," she concluded.
