Jakarta, August 10, 2023 – Coinciding with the Indonesian Nature Conservation Day, the Sejauh Mata Memandang (SMM) brand launches its latest collection titled “Rimba”. This collection draws inspiration from the Leuser Ecosystem Area in East Aceh, the last place on Earth for four critically endangered species to coexist in the wild: Sumatran elephants, Sumatran rhinos, Sumatran tigers, and Sumatran orangutans.
In a world where the fashion industry contributes 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions (McKinsey & Co.), we stand out for our dedication to responsible fashion. The 'Rimba' collection reflects our commitment to this cause. It shows our determination to protect and preserve nature, particularly the invaluable forests and the diverse creatures that call them home.
Alongside Yayasan HAkA and Forum Konservasi Leuser, Sejauh has initiated an agroforestry program. To date, we have regrown a substantial 20-hectare forest area, which is about 8,000 trees. This achievement is a result of a collaboration with our #SahabatSejauh, who contribute to this agroforestry with every purchase they make.
To create the 'Rimba' collection, we've also worked with local textile printing entrepreneurs in Bali to ensure responsible production. The collection features OEKO-TEX®️ STANDARD 100 certified dyes, safe for sensitive skin, along with water-saving production techniques that minimize environmental impact. Additionally, we remain committed to circularity by using TENCEL™️ fiber fabric, a material that embodies both comfort and nature positivity.
