Growing Together Across Cultures: Solange & Adhonian’s Love Journey

Their story began in Ancona, Italy. On the ship where they worked, Solange Vargas from Argentina met Muhamad Adhonian Canarisla from Indonesia.

Working as sailors meant they rarely had free time. But when their work tour took them through Italy, Croatia, France, and Spain, they found a time to sit down and talk. A warm conversation at a quiet rocky spot in Nice, France, became their first memorable date.

Over time, they grew to understand each other's habits more deeply. There were many differences shaped by their cultural backgrounds, and they continued learning how to understand each other. Honest conversations and giving each other space when needed helped keep their relationship steady and harmonious.

Both of them love outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, climbing, surfing, and going on road trips. They even enjoy choosing matching outdoor gear, like raincoats, hiking bags, water bottles, and sandals.

Feeling comfortable with each other and sharing many similarities, they decided to take the next step. In Bordeaux in 2022, they officially became a couple.

While planning their wedding in 2025, they heard about Sejauh Mata Memandang from a friend and chose the Sejauh Mata Memandang x TULUS collection. They fell in love with its simple, comfortable, and versatile pieces. Having learned to make thoughtful choices through their work with Greenpeace International, they brought the samme spirit to their wedding: minimizing single-use plastics, using natural decorations, and selecting low-waste catering. All of this aligned with the values they have always believed in.

Growing up close to nature also taught them to live responsibly. They choose durable items, consider how things are made, and try to minimize waste around them. Through their work in environmental organizations, they voice for a more responsible lifestyle and feel proud to contribute to a better future.
