"Sejauh Mata Memandang" unveiled its new "Baur" collection at Jakarta Fashion Week 2023, held at Pondok Indah Mall 3, South Jakarta, on October 25, 2022.
"Baur" celebrates "Sejauh Mata Memandang's" eight-year journey and focuses on repurposing various unused textiles. These include leftover materials from "Sejauh's" production, deadstock fabric, remnants from previous "Sejauh" exhibitions, and recycled fabric from unwearable clothes. The materials are transformed back into threads, combined with new threads, and used to create new clothes.
The fabric for recycling comes from "Sejauh's" Recycling Program in collaboration with Ecotouch and supported by "Sejauh" friends who contribute their unwearable clothes. The recycling process involves sorting materials, removing buttons and zippers, cutting, shredding, and more until they turn back into threads.
These threads are then mixed with new cotton threads and woven into fabric. The production of "Baur" happens in multiple cities like Jakarta and Bandung for recycling and Pekalongan for weaving, all the while making use of responsible technology and community involvement for empowerment.
The "Baur" collection consists of 29 different looks including various tops, kebayas, fabric, and more, all in white and gray with unique "Sejauh" patterns. Titi Radjo Padmaja was also part of the event, creating the music for the "Baur" collection presentation.
