PLOVDIV, 8 JUNE 2023 – Sejauh Mata Memandang shows a collection of modern fashion that combines Indonesian culture with environmentally friendly concepts in a musical concert entitled "Harmonature: Harmonizing the Nature of Nusantara" which was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria with Ambassador Iwan Bogananta (Bulgaria, Albania and North Macedonia) and creative direction from Jay Subyakto and Erwin Gutawa.

Chitra Subyakto, Founder and Creative Director of Sejauh Mata Memandang, stated, "Our aim in participating in this musical concert is not only to introduce Indonesian culture and nature to the Bulgarian community, but also to ito encourage numerous fashion industry enthusiasts to collaborate in transforming behaviors and fostering a more eco-friendly ecosystem through responsible textile production. This involves careful selection of materials, dyeing processes, and partnerships with local artisans."

In this musical concert, Sejauh Mata Memandang presented various fashion ensembles from diverse collections and inspirations, enhanced by accessories from Manjusha and bags from Sakombu.

  1. Daur Collection (Upcycle-Patchwork)

This collection is created by repurposing leftover fabric scraps from production and upcycling them into new products such as clothing, bags, and accessories that hold added values. Since 2019, Sejauh Mata Memandang has made various efforts to reduce textile waste and extend the lifespan of fabrics to prevent them from becoming permanent waste.

  1. Tuban’s Gedong Woven Collection

Sejauh Mata Memandang collaborates with local artisans from Tuban Regency, East Java to create a collection consisting of kebaya made from Tuban's signature Gedog woven fabric adorned with beads. The Gedog fabric is made from regenerative cotton, and the entire production process, from planting cotton trees, spinning, weaving, batik making, to natural dip-dyeing process using plant-based dyes.

  1. Batik Cap Collection (Hand-stamped Batik)

This collection features unique patterns from Sejauh Mata Memandang, processed using the traditional technique of batik cap, which involves using copper stamping tools and wax.

We collaborate with home-based entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Watukebo Village in Banyuwangi and Karangjompo Village in Pekalongan.

Tencel and cotton are chosen as fabric materials for this collection, not only because of their comfort in tropical climates but also for their responsible manufacturing process. To achieve the desired colors, Sejauh Mata Memandang collaborates with skilled artisans who specialize in natural dyeing techniques from Sembiran Village in North Bali.

  1. Bugis’ Woven Silk Collection

The traditional clothing and fabric of the Bugis ethnic group from South Sulawesi has inspired Sejauh Mata Memandang in showcasing a collection of clothing such as the "baju bodo" (a traditional Bugis top) combined with a bottom garment in the form of a woven silk sarong featuring checkered patterns and vibrant colors called Lipa' Sabbe. These pieces are produced responsibly, relying on the craftsmanship of silk weavers in Sengkang town of Wajo Regency.
