Wherever We Are, Home Is Us: Aristya Ferdian’s Family Story
Aristya Ferdian, better known as Aris is a husband, a father of two, and a professional working in the mining industry. For nearly 16 years, he and his wife, Kiki, have been managing the reality of living apart for long stretches of time. Despite the distance, their family, along with children Almer and Sumayya has found a way to turn ordinary moments into something extraordinary.
When Aris is home, everyday activities become their quality time. Driving the kids to school, watching movies, trying new foods, going camping, or just spending a quiet evening at home, all of it matters. These simple routines turn into memories they carry through the weeks when they are apart. The night before Aris leaves again, they share a small ritual: the whole family sleeps in the same bed, telling stories and hugging until they fall asleep. It's not a grand gesture, but for them, it’s everything.
One memory that stands out is their trip to perform umrah as a family. It wasn't just a pilgrimage it was also their way of celebrating the New Year together. Moments like that stay with them, reminding them of the strength they find in each other.
Along their journey, Sejauh Mata Memandang has become a quiet companion. Two motifs, “Nitik Ayam” and “Muara”, are family favorites symbols of meaning and connection, woven into their everyday life.
Aris’s commitment to the environment is more than a professional duty it’s a family value. As someone who works in environmental management, Aris brings that perspective home. He teaches Almer and Sumayya to love and respect nature through small, intentional actions, like never littering and meaningful experiences. Family trips to places like Tanjung Puting, where they witnessed orangutans in their natural habitat, serve as living lessons about the importance of conservation and protecting Indonesia’s forests and wildlife.
